gtx 980 bottlenecked by cpu?

Bought a gtx 980 today overclocked it and getting pretty much expected results in benchmarks so all good.
But noticed project cars gets no better minimum fps than my gtx 970 although my 970 was a fantastic overclocked.

So am I to deduce my i5 4750 non k version is a bottleneck? And a i7 4690k would improve things?

Whats your gpu usage in games? Thats the only real way to know.

I5 shouldnt be a bottleneck

It just seems odd that I'm not getting the performance I should be on some games at min fps like I'm missing 4-6 fps and my physics scores on benchmarks is poor.
At times yes the cpu and different cores hit 100%

Yes thats cpu usage install gpu-z and check the gpu usage.

How much did you overclock the 970? A overclocked 970 will beat a stock 980 reason you might not be seeing extra performance.

Not mine

My 980s are EVGA reference SC with Samsung memory plus waterblocks and go like the clappers even before you overclock them.:D

Once you start turning up the settings in games you will notice a difference.

I've Overclocked the 980. 165 core 640 mem stable. Get correct gpu performance benchmarks. My 970 clocked 215 core and 640 mem, which is pretty impressive for the base Msi model.
Of course now I get better performance but some games are still slow have latest drivers too be honest it's project cars it's doing my head in. Le Mans, 31 cars, thunderstorm, in the night, I get 1 fps less than when I had the 970 and 9 fps better average . The min fps must be the bottleneck. Pretty sure my 1600mhz ram and 4670 cpu is holding me back by another 6-9 fps????
Any ideas?.
Just thought for some reason my project cars has never updated at all!!! Tried re installing and all sorts must be an odd fault. I assume later versions run better?.
Till then must be cup and the ram holding things back

They are "stock" using the reference board and cooler but with higher base clocks which is something 99% of cards can acheive.

Im not gonna search thru 980lists for normal clocks but id expext them to be 1-200mhz higher
