Just about to put a GTX980 into my PC, I've got a triple monitor setup and it's dawned on me that I only have an active miniDP to HDMI adapter (currently used on my 7870)

Do the Nvidia cards need an active or passive adapter/cable? Monitors are DVI/HDMI only so don't think there's any way I can get around this without buying a new adapter/cable!

There is one DVI-D Dual link and one HDMI port. How many do you need?

You could always get a DP to MiniDP adaptor and use with your existing adaptor. Startech make one, model number DP2MDPMF6IN.

Need one DVI-D for main screen, then two HDMI/DVI ports for the two smaller screens.

Thanks for mentioning a DP to MiniDP adaptor - I'm guessing something like this would be suitable then? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CB-019-CG&groupid=1929&catid=1757

Dan,

How did you get on, I am in the same position, trying to get 3 DVI monitor's hooked up. I also have an old active min-dp to DVI. Did yours work with the dp - mini dp connector?

cheers
