Hi everyone, I'm interested in getting a sff with a gtx 980 in it. Which case and spec would you all recommend? I really like the look of the prodigy, but I have been told it's not very good at cooling? Was thinking of liquid cooling the processor tho, so would the poor cooling still be an issue if I did?

This sff rig is to replace my ps4, so will be connected to my TV and surround sound.

My ideal spec sheet is:
Prodigy case
Gtx 980
I5k processor with liquid cooling
2tb hard drive
Any decent motherboard
16gb 1600mhz ram
A gold rated psu.
Blu Ray drive.

Would this be a good build that'll last me a few years?

Thanks

Ian

Hi doomedspeed,

The budget is around £1300, maybe £1400 at a push. Yes, the TV is a 1080p, not sure of the refresh rate tho. My plan is for this rig to last a few years, hence the 980. Trying to future proof it as much as I can :)

I've tried building a rig myself before, it didn't turn out well. So planning on either buying the bits and someone else putting it together, or building a mini pc on overclockers configurator.

The 16gb ram is me trying to future proof again :)

Thanks

Thanks :) I don't know much about that case, will it keep the gpu cool with just air cooling or would I have to liquid cool that too?

Thanks again

OK, well how about the corsair carbide air 240 case? That looks like it could suit my needs? Like the style of it too. Overclocking is something I might look at in the future, I don't really know how to do it yet :)

How does this build look? The only thing I would want is liquid cooling for the cpu, unless that air cooler would be OK?

Thanks

So would the reference design 980 be better than an open air cooler 980 for the carbide 240? There's that many options it gets confusing!

OK no worries. Thanks. Just had a thought, probably going to have to get a new TV to do this new rig justice :) the Mrs is gonna kill me :)

Hi everyone, does anybody know much about the Silverstone raven RVZ01 case? Looks like the perfect one for my TV set up?

Thanks

Ian

Thanks for the video :) I'm happy with that! Now my next question is would I be better off getting a large 1080p monitor rather than using my 1080p 32 inch TV? I don't really want to sit at a desk to play my games tho, I'd rather sit on the sofa. hence this build will replace my ps4.

Thanks again

Ian

Something I may well look into. I hear mixed reports about using a TV as a monitor, some good some bad, so we'll see. What do you think would be the best 980 card for this case? A reference design or something like the MSI gaming edition?

Thanks
