Hi

just got my hands on a GTX 980 which will be going into my existing setup along with a new case so having to rebuild.

I currently have 2 psu's, one is a semi modular 750 Antec unit the other is a Superflower Leadex Platinum 550w fully modular unit and was wondering which one to use.

The rest of my rig is a AMD X4 880 on an Asrock board, 16gb ram, 3 x 240gb ssd;s and a few fans. Personally would prefer to use the Superflower for neatness and the platinum rating but need to know if its capable of running this lot.

Will not be going sli but may add a couple of 2tb hard drives for storage.

probably want more than 550W for a 980 but not sure, might be able to get away with it if its platinum.

if the antec 750 is at least 80+ gold I'd use that for sure.

A qulity 550w psu such as the Superflower that you have is more than enough for just about any single gpu setup. I doubt if you would even pull 350w at the wall. Use the Superflower.

Wrong thread maybe because thats got to do with anything in this thread? It's wrong anyway. G2 models have 7 years warranty on the 550w and 650w and 10 years on the 750w and above.

The 550w is capable don't worry! People go a little overboard with psu's. Personally I run a coolermaster 650w bronze psu with a 4770k, a 1070, 7 fans and 3 hard drives. I certainly wouldn't add another gpu to that, but for a single card setup, its fine.

550w is fine. I'm running a RX480 and 6700 on a 9 year old Corsair hx530w. I went back it recently as my much newer Seasonic 750w started to coil whine really badly (already RMAed one of them after it died completely) :/

They don't make them like they used to!
