GTX or 2x GT, or stick and wait the next gen

Which to get? The Leadtek GTX or 2x Leadtek GT's, or stick with what I have and wait the next gen.

I like the system to be reasonably quiet, hence plumping for the Leadtek GT's over other brands, but I am not too sure what way to go.

Looks to me that for a small premium over the price of a GTX I can have 2 GT's, which are slightly newer tech, but will they perform any better, or am I expecting too much and asking for trouble?

Also, with the next gen around the corner, would I maybe be better to wait and see what it brings?

Problem is I have cash burning a hole at the mo and I am finding it difficult not clicking the 'buy' button!:D

Currently running a GTS 640 on a 20" screen at 1650x1080.

Thanks for any advice.

I say wait till next gen. Your card is very capable and if you feel it isn't performing as well as you'd like, you can clock it some more.

If you need high-end, the 3870 X2 is a good performance part. :)

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I have been looking at the X2 also. Wouldn't mind going back to ATi, always did prefer their image quality over nVidia.

Might just sit tight for a month or so and see what happens. If the free delivery had been still going, I think I would have bought by now!

Good few months for the next gens yet, could be August, or later, Nvidia have still got old 2006 8800's to release in March, and AMD have still got some old 2900's still to come as well. :D

Meanwhile, back at Intel GMA labs....

"Wow! We made a GPU that's faster than the Nvidia and ATI cards!"

"Shut up, Dwayne. That's old tech."

^ yeah, seems to have. When I added stuff to the basket, the delivery charge is there. Maybe I am doing something wrong though, not sure.
