GTX overheating

I recently took the cooler of my 8800GTX and reaplied AS5 on all the places where it needed to be covered.

However my temps have risen something wicked.


A week later it is idling @ 88oc


What can I do?


Have I lost my warrenty (BFG), will they know?

Im afraid so. BFG (like many companies) have employed sniffer dogs that are trained to detect the different smells of different thermal pastes.

Reseat the cooler first, if it's hotter than it was before then it's almost certainly not seated right.

hmmm just had a look (its running as we speak)

apparently lots of the ram chips arnt even touching the cooler and the bit at the end (seperate chip) also isnt touching.

Cant be good.



I need to go out now, and im downloading something so cant turn pc of

Oh well.


will turn it off in a couple of hours.
