GTX/ULTRA

Looking to put a GTX/Ultra 8800 in my system.

The case is long enough, have a X1900 in there at the mo.

The Mobo is a DFI Lanparty UT Expert. I know when i put the X1900 in it was
tight against one of the Mobo fans!!

All the 8800GTX/Ultras seem to have Hoooge cases.

Has anyone else got the same mobo and fitted a monster card?
Which one??? Would like a silent version card too

I think the case is your concern, rather than the mobo.....would think that all gfx cards sit down in the slot the same, so the mobo fan should not be an issue (although the airflow will be restricted.....)......

The case isnt a problem, its a Tsunami TT case. All I need to do is re-cofigure my hard-drives to make a gap!!!

How many hard drives do you have?

Also id suggest against an Ultra. For the price its not really worth it unless you have the money to throw at it.

what would you suggest then mate? 4 drives - 2 Raptors a 300Gb and a 400Gb hard-drive

ive got a OcUK XT1900 in the whole at the mo

Thinking of getting a 750Gb Sata and swapping for the raptors and 300Gb drive, putting the 300 in an ext case( its ide ) and my mate will have the two raptors, so then down to two drives but loadsa storage!!!

The case isnt a problem, its a Tsunami TT case. All I need to do is re-cofigure my hard-drives to make a gap!!!

You will need cut part of HDD cage away with a Ultra anyhow, it enters cage by about 1-2CM, it hits the rear WALL of CAGE, so a semi circle cut out of it will allow you to fit card then slide HDD Cage back in.

As a temp measure you can use 1 HDD and bluetac it to the HDD Cages resting mount (upside dpwn so as not to short out) and hold in place with Velcro if you move it.

BTW, you will be using 2 HDD's max in that cage after you mod it IMO.

TT site tells you that Case (actually all the Mid Towers) dont not accept these long cards and to remove the Toolless PCI retention bracket to fit dual cards (no need as you can snip away the web and use dual slot cards with it) and remove HDD Cage and fit HDD's in Optical Bays.

Yep that baby wont fit unless you cut the hdd cage

Could always just buy a new case to fit it all. I beleive the Antec P182 will fit it and all the hard drives and thats a really nice case, sound proofed with good cooling.

But i cant remember if it would fit 3 or 4 with the ultra. But then again i dont think you really need the ultra unless you have the extra cash as i said before.

8800GTX certainly fitted into my P180.......probably wouldn't have done if all the HDD bays had been filled, but my drives are all downstairs anyway......P182 is more or less the same case, dimension-wise - great case !
