Hi all,

Would appreciate some advice on this. Building a small PC for playing videos and general work. It will be hooked to a 4k screen and I need it to output 2160p at both 60hz and 24hz. Not going to do any gaming or anything, but the cheapest cards I could find with HDMI 2.0 are the GTX1050 and RX460. Which would be better for my use? I don't know what's best for video playback these days but I'd like something that can output at 24hz correctly (or whatever it is for movies). The screen itself will be fairly basic 4K TV. Don't care about this whole HDR thing.

I prefer image quality that is true to the original video, without any enhancements. I also prefer nvidia driver software, but haven't used AMD in a long time so that might have changed.

Any recommendations would be most welcome!

The GTX 1050 is Nvidia's best bang for buck GPU this gen. It's only about £10 more than the RX460. Def go with the 1050 at this price point.

If you were stepping up more I would say go RX470, but at the £100 price point, GTX 1050 is clear winner.

What CPU you plan to use? Because the majority of the IGPs can power a 4K monitor.

After that for even simple gaming or as BR player, a Xbone One S will serve you better.

It's an Intel Pentium G3250 3.20GHz. I would have just used the IGP but none of them (that I know of) support HDMI 2.0, which is needed for 4k@60hz. I also want to use the 4k screen for general web browsing and office use, which would pretty bad at 30hz.

Also, even if they did I'm wary of how they'd handle high quality 4k video.
