GTX1070 frames dropping to zero in games

Hi All,
Hope you are all well. I have an intel i5 6600k and a Zotac GTX1070 AMP GPU. When playing games FPS drops to zero and the games freeze temporarily the FPS shoots back up. This happens randomly and it is really annoying me.

Any ideas?

Monitor the CPU usage as four core/four thread is a likely culprit these days when paired with something like 1070 or better. Use Afterburner + Rivatuner to display CPU usage and keep an eye on it. If the drops happen when usage hits 100% then that's the cause. Another way of testing is to lock fps to 60 so the CPU doesn't have to work as hard preparing frames, and see if the drops still occur.

If that isn't it, it's probably driver related and you could try different driver. 431.60 was a good and stable one in general (I have a 1070 like you). But it's only a matter of time before the 6600K becomes a problem due to the above, if it isn't already.

Thanks. I was wondering about my cpu as was looking to upgrade. I have uninstalled Geforce Experience and seems ok now. Will start monitoring the CPU. If I upgrade I think Ryzen 5 3600X might be a good option.
