Hi Guys,

Last night I added an 8800GT to my system to run as a dedicated PhysX card. I then played Dragon Age for a bit, to see if there was any difference... I didn't see any.

I decided to run 3dmark06 to see if there was any kind of noticeable score increase. (I didn't run it before i put the card in, so i'm going by scores i had from my system when it was running XP)

My System:
AMD X3 720 BE @ 3.5Ghz core, 2.2Ghz HyperTransport
Gigabyte MA790XT UD4P
XFX GTX260 @625/1325/1050
8800GT @ 600/1400/900
4GB OCZ Platinum 1360Mhz
Win7 HP 64-bit

Does anyone know if a score of about 15500 is right for this? does 3dmark06 even use PhysX? my XP score was about 15k...

that would explain why the score has barely changed. But that would imply that i will get a boost by using a separate physX card, as my board splits to 2 x8 pcie lanes with two cards installed. x16 for just one. Having the score not change tells me that i've not lost any performance by doing this.

Cheers!

PCI-E 2.0 @ x8 doesn't cause much of a performance hit, especially in a 3dmark06 run. Where it becomes significant is at higher resolutions with AA (1920x1200 with 4x or more AA), and even then from the reviews I've seen it's not a big deal.
