Hi

Put in my GTX 260 today and its great. However, when playing blu-ray films in PowerDVD when i go to fullscreen i get a clicking noise from the pc tower, and when i window it its fine.

Using a 580W Hiper PSU as thats what im thinking is the problem at the moment. But im not sure:

Other Specs:
E6600
4GB Geil RAM
2 HDD's
2cd Drives (1 Bluray one dvd)

Any thoughts. Thanks

Hipers go bang!!!

Dude, they are famous for blowing up and taking components with them aswell.

The ticking sound will most likely be coming from you psu, want some advise get a replacement...quick :)

I would do a bit of reading up on the psu's you are looking at, Corsair seem to be quite popular on these forums.

I personally would try to find a decent brand with a UK RMA service.

or you could also try contacting Hiper them selves explaining your issue and check if it's still under warranty (wasn't they covered wit a 5yr warranty?).

Argh conflicting opinions. And i know zip about PSU's so i dont know what to think. Looking around the corsair ones do look good but not modular... But oh well.

As for the hyper its out of warranty and only clicks with the 260 in it on bluray so its just not got enough juice or bad amps... Shame i liked mine!

So corsair or ocz people. Much appreciated for an idiot like me on the subject

I had one of the OCZ PSU. That went clicking on me after only 6months :(

Ya your problem does sound like a PSU.

Likewise. The OCZ are a good cheap option, but there would be others i'de choose first. I certainly wouldn't describe them as very good. I'de go for corsair first.

I'm also selling a near new PC Power&Cooling 750W Silencer for £75 inc, and it's better than all your other options at that price range.

OCZ are very good PSUs... aslong as you keep them below ~70% load they are very cool, usually fairly quiet and very stable... corsair and gigabyte odin are also good solid PSUs.
