have there been any improvements in the drivers recently ?

just seems most reviews and or peoples forums post pitch it in as slower in FSX than my 8800GTX :(

about 50% of my games playing on my PC is FSX - rest things like Fallout 3

all other games - 360 and PS3

thanks, MArk.

If you've got an i7 or Q95xx running ~3.6GHz, the GTX 260/280/285 will be an improvement over the 8800GTX (even an improvement over the 9800GTX); otherwise you'll get the same FPS.

9800GTX+ seems to be teh card for FSX according to the posts I've seen - I've no experience in the matter and not sure why but apparently its faster than the 200 series and ATI's 4800 series in that one game.

EDIT: According to the couple of benchmarks I just googled the 9800GTX+ is only 1% faster than the 8800GTX in FSX and both are 8-9% faster than the 200 series and about 20% faster than the 4800 cards in FSX.

probably as FSX is very CPU dependant

that said it becomes quite GPU dependant IMO at 1900 with lots of AA .... which makes a big different to the visuals

my 8800GTX is ok at 1900x1200 with 2x but gets a bit choppy upwards of there - was hoping a 260GTX would be better

but unless drivers have moved on a lot- the review charts look very depressing for FSX for the GTX260 - can't think why though the GTX260 should have plenty of raw grunt

Why is this?

Those results look a bit off to me compared to all the others... I mean they have the 9800GTX+ well under the 9800GTX in some cases and they are essentially the same card the + just die shrunk and overclocked a bit... pretty sure the 260 does better than the 4800 series as well tho still under the 8 series.

mmm after an hour of Fallout 3 - perhaps the 8800GTX isn't so bad afterall

with a slight overclock was smooth as a nut @ 1900 with 2xFSAA and 8xAntio

so life in it still
