GTX260 Problem

Just replaced my 8800GTS 512MB G92 with a XFX GTX260 Card today, the only problem is it doesn't let me use widescreen resolutions properly.

I can manually set up 1400x900 in the nVidia control panel but its kind of annoying. I have tried uninstalling the drivers and going back to older 200 series drivers but its not having it. It only lets me set "by default" 640x800, 1024x800, 1600x1200 etc..

Is this a common fault or am I doing something stupid? Annoying!

I have a 260 and run at 1920x1080 (16:9 widescreen).

Sounds like a driver issue to me, try cleaning them all out and reinstall the latest.

+1, remove all drivers from control panel, boot in safe mode, run driver sweeper, boot normally and install latest ones.

Make sure the driver for your monitor is installed. If you don't have one - Windows provides drivers for various resolutions with Windows itself (select driver manually).

Thanks guys, I'll try all the above. I thought it may be a driver issue :rolleyes:

Instead of starting a new thread;

What kind of 3D Mark 06 scores do you guys get with the 260? I'm not getting a whole lot more then my G92 8800GTS. There's a few hundered points in the difference?

Q6600 2.7GHZ / Stock GTX260 = 13100 3D Mark 06.

Does that sound right?

06 isn't the greatest benchmark tool anymore. I got over 17,000 with my Q6600 @ 3.5 and OC 260.

I have the 3rd highest single card score here on OcUK for 3D mark Vantage, below two 280s:D

As said, 3dmark06 doesn't show off the latest gen graphics cards especially since the resolution is so low and is biased towards the cpu. With a 8800GTS 512 and my quad at 3.8Ghz I managed to score almost 17000 points on 3dmark06. From memory every 0.1Ghz I overclocked the cpu, I gained a few hundred points in 3dmark06.

In fact, my 3dmark06 scores actually dropped when I first "upgraded" to a 4870.

Vantage is a much better test.

Or try some games, you will see a massive improvement.
