gtx280 bottlenecked

What speed should i overclock a e8400 to so it doesnt bottleneck the gtx280? There gonna be in a xfx 780i.

Just overclock it as high as you can without destabilising your system.

Anything over 3.2 should be fine with a c2duo. Its only extreme SLI setups that need crazy clocks to avoid bottlenecks.

I run 260GTX with a e6700 @ 3.2 which is about as high as the vidcard needs, going higher gives no appreciable performance increase at all that I can see.

I did some perf tests on mass effect and dawn of war, despite it's age dawn of war is quite graphically demanding on the 8 player maps particularly when the screen is full of troops

I did both CPU and GTX overclocks, the CPU ones made no real differance that i could notice

The GPU overclocks, made it marginally smoother in the area's i got the odd stutter or drop below 60FPS, i tried CPU speeds from 3.16 stock to 3.8 on a dual core, 3.2 or there abouts is all you need and you will get more perf by overclocking the card over the CPU in most games
