Hi Folks,

I have a GTX280 on a LAnparty Jr P45 T2RS. It is plugged into the PCI-E 1 slot. I have only just noticed that in GPU-Z the bus interface says PCI-E 2.0 x16 @ x8 2.0.

I can't believe it! I've had it for a few weeks and thought it was fine! ( I managed to get over 20k in 3d mark 06 like this with my 4ghz quad).

How do I get it to run at 16x, I've had a look in the bios but can't see anything in there.

Thanks.

Matt

You cant its hardwired to x8. I wouldnt worry though my X2 ran fine in there so your 280 shouldnt be held back. Its x8 2.0 which is equal to x16 1.0 or whatever it was.

it maybe a faulty card.....1 week ago i noticed the same with my 2nd gtx so i made some posts on some forums and found out it should be running in 16x16x on my motherboard (x58),after taking out each card and putting them in each slot one at a time i was able to find out that my card was faulty as my other card ran at 16x instead of 8x,i dont know what motherboard you have....anyhow i got my bfg replacement today from bfg company and im verry happy as both cards are now running in 16x16x...i hope this helps you:)

The mobo is hardwired to 8x8 so unless you rewire the mobo your never going to be running x16.

check all the little transistors that run along the the bottom of the card near the slot, some of them were damaged on my old gtx 280 and it ran @x1 pcie 2.0 on my xfx 780i and @x4 pcie 1.0 on my asus p5w dh deluxe. It still ran fast though

Hes only running one card, not 2, so it should be at 16x.

EDIT: Nope, its correct, that boards only 8x electrical, so to answer how to get your card to run at 16x, buy a new board. :p

The P45-T2RS JR only has 8x (gen 2) electrical slots (only run half way down), it will make 0 difference with a single card though. The new X58 ones will have full 16x slots and support SLI.

Just checked the DFI and the board is locked to 8x on each lane

My 2 penny worth :p

Don't worry, just enjoy!
