If im playing a game i can still hear it working behind the colourful mess shown above, so im guessing the card is the problem. It happens after 2mins, on launching a game or after a long time playing a game so it seems quite random.. (the card doesn't appear to be overheating either)

ive slapped my old 8800gtx in the box for now and after 30mins all seems fine so ill try the same scenario's using that, can anyone recommend and programs i can run to test the GTX280 or should i pack it up and return under warranty ?

cheers

Hi

I would pack it up and return it under warranty looks like the memory is borked had a sim problem with my old 6800gt replaced it with a cheap ati card and all was ok with the pc.

eekfek>My card is also just done the same. I have a Leadtek 280 and like you I have only had it about 5 months.

Occasionally it will boot into windows but very rare. On the occasions it does the moment I goto play a game within seconds I get the same display as you.

To try and trouble shoot it I uninstalled and tried a different set of drivers. Swapped my psu from a 1200w to a spare seasonic 600w and the trouble persists. Putting in an old 7800gt and the problem was gone. I can't say 100% for you but the card for me is dead.

This is a RMA jobbie.

Those pics remind me of my 2 leadtek 6800gt's, they were giving the same issues, and sure enough both cards were borked. Definitely rma time.
