my gtx 280, when im running high end games will periodically show a red led rather than the green, im under the impression this is a power issue, i have a 750 corsair, any tips or experiences of solving this appreciated
 
The red light is a problem with the psu not supplying enough juice so i would look there for your problem. Have you got access to a spare to try or a friend?
