Hi
My old card was a 8800GTX. Hot air blowing back into the fan was an issue, bodged with some post-it notes (directing all air out of the back). Even so when busy (Crysis) I had to speed up the fan to 80% using RivaTuner.
Now running the lovely GTX280. I was suprised to find the case was metal !, acting as a heatsink itself, especialy for the rear memory chips. Crysis very happy, yet again the card is too hot to touch (esp the back plate towards the rear). After 30mins or so of Crysis the PC blue screens (blames the Nvidia driver), Vista64 losing it's SP1 in the process ?!?!. The latest RivaTuner in use again, speeding up the fan. Crashes gone, noise levels up....
I can increase the case airflow to compensate to a 'small' extent. Yet again I find Nvidia running the fans at too low speed to keep noise levels down !. The rear 'memory sink' plate needs modifying (beefing up) to include heat sink vanes & the bars of the back exhaust vent need reducing/removing (did this to my 8800GTX). I'm not interested in SLI so spacing is not a problem.
How is yours running ?......
Regards
