I've got a Zotac GTX285 (standard GTX285 w/AMP bios flashed) and it fully loads at 85c. I was wondering if I can get this down a few degrees without forking out £40 on a new cooler.

So my question is, can I take the cooler off and apply AS5 to all the bits that have a thermal pad on? or is the pad bridging a gap? ie. if I apply AS5 to certain parts will it even come into contact with the heatsink? Is it worth buying some thermal pads if so, or will they be re-usable, they aren't sticky are they?

Ta

The pads no but the GPU core with use thermal paste so you could replace that no problem. Would probably knock a few C off the load temps.

Did it today guys, whipped cooler off, AS5's everything apart from 2 little chips that I didn't fancy spreading AS5 on, so left the pads on them bits.

Load temps are about 4c down, not great but it didn't cost anything. Maybe temps will go down more as the AS5 cures.

I don't really want to raise fan speeds, I know I can do this in EVGA Precision... it'd cover up the capacitor whining I guess:p
