GTX295 upgrade advise?

Lol ..well if i do upgrade then may start using it for games again lol
So 3gb vram ram is the amd card ?

There's no point buying higher end cards like these, or even lower end of mid-range for that matter, unless you are going to be using it for gaming / work applications.

Yes, the AMD 7950 has 3gb of memory. :)

Unless you're going to be playing CoH 2 pretty much non stop, I wouldn't bother myself (unless you've won the lottery). If you think you're going to get back into PC gaming, then these are great choices as they'll let you play anything at 1080p.

I'd vote for the 7950 - the free games, overclocking potential and extra memory, and CoH 2 seems to favour it over the 760. Based on those benchmarks, you'd expect the 7950 overclocked to go from 24fps to about 30fps.

I'd be tempted to go for the cheapest GTX 760 you can find and aim to pay around £190-£200. I really don't think there's any point spending more money considering what you want to use it for. If you want more power in the future just get another one and sli them. If you definatley want ATI 3Gb you can get a 7970 with 5 games included for around £275 (sell the games for around £40)...uber bargain!!!

Thanks for all the input ...sorry put amd instead of ati lol ...need to think what to get lol ...def want to get into gaming again .

You're right they are AMD...I still call them ATI.
If your bothered about Vram how about the 760 in 4GB? maybe something else to consider ;) These cards are only about £20 more than the standard 2gb which seems a fair deal to me. If you factor in the possibility of SLI these are as future proof as you will get at the momment.

There's not much more people can add!

I think you should get the 7950 - you want to get back into PC gaming and you'll get 8 of the latest games for free, it performs better out of the box for Company of Heroes 2, it has more memory and it overclocks brilliantly.

Ok ...need to just pic one and stick with it ...but will look at 760 4gb model ....games bundle on 7950 is also good
Thanks

4gb of vram isn't required at 1080, 1200, 1440 or even 1600p for that matter. It's only really useful when you run super high resolutions / multi monitor and are using multi gpu.

Get the 7950 with the free games

+1
Get the 7950 with 8 games.... IS the best you can do now with your money + since your coming back on pc gaming you will have some extra games to play with ;)

I recommend you the ICQ Boost 7950 (the first card above)i have it myself and it is a beast... you cant go wrong with it

Well im now thinking of the 7950 as you say as read the 760 4gb is not worth it as still only use 2gb lol.
What power consumption and fan noise like on the 7950 ?

I would say based on recent opinion and what you have said in the thread, go for the 760 for now and see how you like it. If you want even more performance then look at upgrading it to sli as this achieves 780 results for less money. There was something in the latest news section on here about the kfa cards being pretty amazing for the price. The AMD route is good though especially with the game bundle they are doing too. Argh, not helping am I? ;)

Haha your in the same situation as me. I think im going to end up going for the iceq 7950. Ive nearly almost decided :)

According to reviews and people on here that 7950 is pretty much silent. Power use on the 7950s is always quite low, a little bit lower than the 760 (~20W).
