Haven't really been keeping up with graphics cards as I have been pretty happy with my GTX295 but thought it was probably worth upgrading sometime in near future. Although current pricing is looking silly for high end card I thought I paid a lot for my 295 but I can see cards near the £600 mark.

Currently running 2x 24" monitors (1920x1200). Mainly a FPS player now so Battlefield, COD etc. Probably will stick with Nvidia but wondering what I should go for, something out the 500 series or should I wait a little to see what the new 600 series brings? I hear a few of them are due may-ish.

Probably similar money to what I spent on my 295 is what I think I can justify to myself. Around the £300 mark.

Machine in signature only thing to add that is not on there would be SSD + other HDD's also have a 1000w PSU so have plenty of overhead for throwing in high watt GPU although I think new things actually use less power than my 295 anyway.

Oh yeah sorry - missed that - must be going blind.

I would say the choice is fairly simple - HD7950 at the moment is really the only card in your price range which offers good performance for the money. Plus if you're interested you can really overclock the card quite far. The nVidia equivalent is probably the GTX 580 which is still quite expensive and a 7950 performs a little better.

If you want to wait a little, you could get the GTX 670 from nVidia which should be in your price range when released although nothing confirmed yet.

Unfortunately it's only really AMD which have released cards in the latest range in the upper mid/low mid range.

Of course this is assuming you're willing to consider AMD. There's no reason not to from a performance/quality POV but it's your choice :) . This comes from somebody with a GTX 680 as well :)

Cool thanks for the info, I've always gone Nvidia so probably going to stick with it but just can't see myself shelling out on the top end this time as the 680 is just too much lol.

Got some time to kill till I can afford it anyway so will definatly hope for some favourable pricing on the 670 then and if not fall back on a 580. :)

Yeah - if you do change your mind, the 680 is an excellent purchase. It was cheaper on release day than it is now though. I got mine for £419.95 including free next day delivery.

I am in same boat - wanting to spend £200 - 250. If it was a blow socks off deal I could make it to £300 possibly. I am waiting until 670 and evaluate the market then. Until then my GTS 8800 is hanging in there :)
