Afternoon Guys,

I brought a GTX 460 from overclockers towards the middle of last year (July i think). Over the past month or so whenever I'm playing any games i get the following error. Screen goes black for about 5-10 seconds and then continues as normal. Just getting a bit concerned as it seems to be getting more regular.

"Display Driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 266.58 Stopped responding and has successfully recovered"

Have tried a number of things, downloaded the latest drivers from NVIDIA, got the latest chipset from Intel etc, seem to stop it for a while but then just randomly started up again.
Have ordered a new PSU just in case, still waiting for that to arrive (should have been here today).. but if that doesn't work I'm not sure what else i could try.. any advice?

GPU running at around 30C idle and around 55C-60C Active

system:
4x Q6600 2.4GHz
4GB
GTX460
650W Antec PSU

have also just tried using older drivers, same thing happens!

Also, not sure if this helps but have tried running games in very low settings and the driver crash appears to be non-existant.. however running them in anything higher than that results in driver crashes!

its just the drivers crash now and then, i had the problem on my old core2quad, it would go black.. say display drivers stopped responding then sort itself out. theres new drivers out now, try downloading them and see if it helps. :)

their all upto date, have tried rolling back too but still does the same thing.

Only doesn't do it if i run games on stupidly low settings.

Had the same issue with my 460s and 580s since the last 3 driver versions. Well, this + BSOD. Just rollback to an older..older version. Thousands of complaints about it, especially with 400 series cards. Wish they'd release decent drivers at some point.

100% driver issue btw, your card is fine. Google your issue, you'll see what I mean.

awesome i'll roll roll roll back then, you don't happen to know which version actually works do you, from personal exp.?

ive no idea, i havent had them for a while now, the new ones seem to be working perfectly fine for me.. just keep trying til you find one!

nice one, cheers for your help, will have a bash tonight ... my PSU should be here today aswell, after DX's Next Day Secure Fortnight Delivery that is... so will be trying that as well :)

ive been on 261 since forever almost ive had no reason to update my driver for better features and non of the games i have tried have shown any issues.

Cheers for that, will check out the 261 drivers.

out of interest what games are you playing.. and at what settings? :)

been able to play pretty much all games on their highest settings at 1920x1080 with atleast 2x aa mostly 4x and get atleast 40fps average

on a 1gb card though most games seem to use around 900-1000mb with 4x aa, i usually run my card at 775mhz

well, got my new power supply and tested, still no joy, the exact same thing happens.

Tried rolling back the drivers to the earliest went through them almost one by one and non of them solved the issue. even the latest 270.xx had no effect.

tried my GPU in my housemates machine, exact same thing happened, so im guessing its a GPU issue!

Stuck! :/
