ps
i might go even darker and try the 470 next,is there anythink that ati can tempt me with to stay(just won a gtx470 on an auction site for £150)

You just bought a 460 and now you bought a 470?
Are you running two PCs?

If you're going to get a 470 I would have to suggest Overclock, just be sure you have sufficient cooling for it. No reason to spend an extra £100 on a 480 when you can Superclock a 470 and see similar results.

ATI 5870's going pretty cheap, those are good. Don't OC as high though, from what I know.
Wait and see what the 6XXX series has to offer if you have that kind of money.

im just doin a bit of benchin, seein how good certain cards really are! its ok takin these reviews for granted, got a spare few quid to buy and sell a few cards, must say though my 4890 still takes some beatin runnin as a single card on nearly max out setting for vurtually all games i played!
thhink my set up should hopefully be able to cool the 470

Modest airflow is enough for a single 470, how high the stock voltage is on the card is a more important factor.
It's a good card though, and judging by the fact you like the 4890, your not too bothered by noise anyway, so you should get on fine with it.
