GTX465 accidentally released

Whether it's really a 465 or something else is, in fact, irrelevant. The word is out, the impact is the same.

Also.... lol.... news of nvidia's (and goons thereof) latest blunders have been my prime source of entertainment on the forum as of late. Seriously, almost every day something new comes up.

Finally, is it just me or have the fanbois gone quiet lately too ? :p

Having them struggle at this moment in time is great for the ATI and their fanbois, helps them to increase their market share.

I hope they sort themselves out soon so they can release decent alternatives to ATI, thus keeping the prices down, and more importantly allow me to upgrade my 4890 for less!

ops all I can say

yeah come on Nv give em some alternatives so i can get a single card that is not such a fan heater  damm its hot in here

This is somewhat relevant, the specifications of the GTX 480M which for all intents and purposes appears to be a GTX 465 at a ridiculously low clock speed, to put that into context the max shader core is just over 850 MHz (the 'core' clock, or the half clock is therefore 425MHz) has been journalised all over (my linguistic skills are failing me somewhat). Read all abaaaat it.

They had a look at the chip, OP on the first thread didn't want to void his warranty, so showed members and an admin pics in private, they confirmed that it was a 465 die.

Pretty obvious it wasnt intended to be released that way, so maybe it was a sample for galaxy that just hadn't been laser cut for them to test with? Alternativley the bios might just be reading false figures; might not be the actual release bios.

Would have loved to see the Galaxy bloke responsible for it's face.
"John you seen my engineering sample for the 465?"
"No mate, by the way just got those 470's out of the door, you left one on the side you muppet."
"...oh %^$£"
