Recently "Sidestepped" to a GTX470 from my GTX295.
Overclocked to 850 core it beats my 295 at stock on 3dMark Vantage, so I was expecting the same in games.
But this appears to not be the case..

Used to get 299fps constant in Source, in any situation, now im only getting around 150fps.

I know it doesnt make a blind bit of difference, just curious as to why this is the case?

Hottest it gets is 75 and the fan doesnt spin up at all which makes me think the GPU is not being fully loaded?

As said, im not complaining about it in any way, I am just curious as to why it is the case?

As its a lot nicer to game when you dont have a fan buzzing in your ear :P

EDIT: Everything is MAXED and playing at 1920x1200

I've never had a constant 299fps in any situation on a 4870x2, 5870 and nor on my oc'd 480 . It never drops below 120-130ish though on a 58 man server so I'm happy. I'm sure on smaller servers it would be 200+ though, but as people have already said CSS uses very little of the gpu. It's roughly 40% usage on mine.
