GTX480 upgrade

I have a GTX480 at the moment, I current game on a 24" Dell at 1920x1200.

I'm itching to upgrade and quite fancy the new Dell U2711 27" monitor which is 2560x1440.

Would the 480 be fine, or should I be going for either a 590 or a 6990 ?

Of course 2560x1600 will be better than 2560x1440, but is there another reason ?

I wouldn't worry about the extra 160 pixels. Seems an odd thing to post, since for most users 16:9 is not only fine, but 16:10 is unnecessary.

I use a GTX480 with 2560x1600, and you'll have to accept that you won't be running things like Metro 2033 at full settings, but I did turn the resolution down to 1920x1200 and sat a little further away than usual, and that was absolutely fine.
