GTX480

For instance if i were to buy a 1000w, wouldnt it use what it needed? Or would it just be dangerously overflowing with power?

Also some pics here, as the CPU wasnt ordered correctly ( my fault ^_^ ) I had to stop at that and just add other bits and bobs that were around. None of the wiring is done as right now, and im still looking around for tutorials or something on how exactly to do it. It all looks like spaghetti junction to me.

id say a decent 850 for SLI.

600 would be fine for a single card.

Maacck, the PSU will only supply the power that is needed, if the pc is only using 200W and you have a 1000W PSU, then the psu will only be using 200W.

the wattage is basically what the PSU is rated to goto, ie the maximum

No. Overload is when the system is pulling more power than the PSU can provide (i.e. system power consumption 500W on a 450W PSU), not the other way round. Having a higher capable PSU simply mean the system can draw from little power to up to the rated wattage safely without problem.
