Hello all, i installed my nice EVGA SC Yesterday.

Prior to that i had a Pair of 8800GTX's that i had been running in non SLI for some time, Whilst playing Black Ops, i had around 40FPS on Average.

I have NO increase after installing my GTX570, i removed old drivers and installed the new 163.

SPEC-

Asus Striker EX 1,
Intel QX6850
8GB RAM
300GB Velo Rap
CrtV XFi Music
GTX570

Any ideas on why my FPS has not risen?
LinkBoost is off.

I have gone through all the config changes for the game that i can find, i have re-installed BO.

Thansk

Hey Mast3r, how is the performance on other games? have you got crysis or metro to compare? can you have a look at msi afterburner or gpuz to see if the activity is o.k.?

Black ops is programmed awfully and, as such, is hugely cpu dependant. Games that really push a gpu, such as crysis or metro as mentioned above, will likely show a good improvement

Well what makes me ask this.

My spare PC is a
Q6700
4GB OCZ SLi Ram
GTS250

i get high 70s FPS.

This PC is of a MUCH Higher Spec and its sucking.

ive got BF:BC2.

I think you should really compare in other games (on both systems) first to see if this low fps problem happens for all games or just black ops. Also, monitor CPU and GPU load on both systems and look for suspicious oddities / discrepancies. I guess It's near impossible to tell what's wrong just from looking at the spec - more info needed.

Black OPs has to be THE worst game for testing graphic performance on.

Anyone with a half decent graphic card, the frame rate would pretty much be dictated by CPU in that game.

What does gpuz or afterburner show during games? how hot does your card get? It would be strange to see a faulty board producing 50-60% performance. It would more likely be a driver issue.

Thanks

I recently made a similar upgrade to an asus 570. Black Ops was playing tosh on my old 3870x2 rig so decided an upgrade was due

Put the card in.. and it ran the same as before. Yup, really is a bad game for testing graphics it seems. However, i then found a patch that has made it a hundred times better. Actually a pretty good game now :D

So, get the patch

What patch then?.my spec is in my sig, I can play back ops in the max setting @ 1400x900 res and I get 150+ fps.

steam updates automatically so there is no need to "get a patch"

unless......

Make sure you set AA/AF to 'application controlled' and set this using the in-game menus. On my 5850 this (and disabling Catalyst AI) seemed to make a huge difference.
