hi all,
i have ordered a pair of asus gtx590 cards for my comp.i am a bit miffed as the site i ordered from said 3-4 days delivery.thats ok i thought, but after nearly 2 weeks and i am still waiting.i have even received my water blocks and stuff in preparation too.
when i phoned the supplier,he said that there was a european shortage and it could be around 3months wait!
not happy atall :O(
one thing that did concern me was that he said did i specifically need the asus brand.i said no but they must be identical cards.....i just didnt want any mis-match issues etc.he said that maybe they could source cards from the states.now, are the boards different from the european spec?
i just want to get my comp upgraded without all the crap.and it really annoys me that sellers can say a set time, take your money(+£1000!!) and then fob you off with a lame excuse!
ok,thats my rant....but i am sure i am not alone in this thinking.

So he had them in stock at time of ordering I'm guessing ?

Sounds a bit dodgy to me,get your money back and order them from somewhere else would be my next move.

Overclockers have loads in stock and you will get them next day if you pay extra.

sorry i was reading this on my phone and thought it said 580 :)

i would still get my money back though after 2 week's.

No they aren't different, they have different serial numbers but that is all.

If this was me i'd demand that i be refunded immediately, waiting 3 months is ludicrous. Keplar cards will be out then!
This sounds like a super dodgy website, could you please name them so to avoid ever using them :)

well i think i have a couple of choices;
1 get a refund
2 wait till everyone gets the new 600 series and buy 2 cards s/hand,then i can keep the water blocks etc
3 refund for all parts and wait for the 600 series

tbh i am not a gamer as such, but i do like to delve sometimes.i use my comp mainly for 3d studio, hence the server board and not so fast system! so i could go for a quadro, but i think bang for buck you get a better deal on the mainstream gamer cards and have more of a diverse system for gaming/rendering.
think i give this guy another week, then i will get a refund anyway.possibly by then i will see some in stock elswhere.
i am not normally one to name and shame but in this instance(as the cost was high) i will tell; Eclipse Computers.i would be interested if anyone else has had dealings/experiences with them too?

I would get full refunds for everything ASAP.

I say this because it sounds like you could be in the lurch for months with them holding your money and you having no new card - meanwhile the new Kepler cards will most likely arrive.

Also, for rendering work I personally wouldn't go for a GTX 590. They are computationally powerful cards, but there are issues with the cooling system (which I expect to only be magnified if you have two in quad SLI running at 100% with rendering tasks). Supposedly Nvidia were considering redoing the cooling system with a new hardware revision - but it seems they just released a new driver that runs the fan a bit quicker/throttles performance and stopped releasing any more cards to retail (hence why you can hardly find any about to buy).

Instead, waiting it out for Kepler will likely be a good move. As it is expected to be rather powerful, since they can pack many more transistors into a fixed area using the 28nm process compared to the 40nm process used on the GTX 590.

thanks....

for your replies.
the 590's suit me ok for now.just seems like i made the same mistake when i first bought my 9800gx2's lol! i should have learnt by now!!
as for cooling issues.....there wont be a problem i think as i am already set for liquid cooling.i just purchased the EK blocks/back panels and FC bridge kit.
even my 9800gx2's have never gone over 23deg in the last 2 years and the comp is on 24/7
dont worry about the 20" monitor....perhaps i forgot to tell you i have a 40" samsung 3d tv via hdmi for gaming :D thats more than enough for me!
design and render is my 1st choice...2d graphics and games come 2nd.

what sort of price are the 600 series likely to be,and when are they due out?
with everyone rushing to buy them i should be able to get a bargain pair of 590's

It's still overkill. Not that you asked for advice but you could run that setup on one 580 and pocket the rest of the dosh.

As others have said, get your money back and get a couple of Keplers.

Oh and please stop spamming the forums, seven posts in six years!?!

:p

get refund and said shop still says available 2-3 days anywhere to lazy to correct simple thing like that seems like untrustworthy place.

real happy now!

just browsing sites to find some gtx590's
found a place and they have the gtx680 in stock.....so i bought 2! :D
saves me £400 pounds over dual 590's and i can always upgrade later to the 690's.
cant wait to collect them on saturday morning.
just need to find waterblocks for them now
