I'm planning on buying a GTX 670 and a 120hz monitor to go with it.
But i was thinking about this today, the GPU is maxing all the current games, but the 120hz monitors can show up to 120fps, so maxing a game on one of those is a whole different story, it wont be long before new games drop to around and below 60fps with the 670.
Does this then make the 120hz redundant?
With framerates below 60fps, would a game look the same on either frequency screen?

In some respects a lower framerate on a 120Hz may actually feel faster, but I think the input lag has a lot to do with it. It's tough to get a demanding game with 120 solid FPS maxed out (assuming 1080P), but when it does it's awesome!

The downside once you get used to 120FPS, games locked at 30FPS anger you more :p

Definitely worth it even if you can't run at 120fps in all games.
To be honest, if your framerates are dropping under 60fps then you would likely want to consider an upgrade regardless of what monitor you are using.

Not long got my 120hz and I have a 670, it's brilliant.

I play BF3 on a mixture of low/high and ultra settings, low for one thing can't remember what, high for a lot and ultra for things like distance/textures.

Runs at 120fps + and still looks brilliant, it's so smooth.
