Does anyone else have this ASUS card? This is the dual-slot version rather than the triple-slot. Just about to order 2 of them unless there are any issues I am unaware of? (apart from nobody stocking more than 1 of them ..). I know the 670 is better value for money but I'm not really bothered about £150 either way to get the slightly better performance. 4GB is for Skyrim mods. I'm specifically looking for a 680 for an SLI setup that is quiet, runs cool, and is good for overclocking.

I think how quiet is the SLI set up going to be would be largely depended on how wide the gap between the two cards, as well how the case airflow is set up. It would be good to have a side-panel fan as exhaust next to the cards, so that the heat dumped from the lower card will not get recycled as much into the cooler of top card.

IMO if you are going to SLI a pair of GTX680, you could considering sourcing a cheap decent branded GTX690. While frame rate figures the GTX690 would be behind the SLI GTX680, the GTX690 has something done at hardware level for reducing micro-shutter which provide better frame time (something SLI two cards don't have), thus it could be as smooth as the slightly higher frame rate SLI GTX680.

My case is a HAF X, mobo is P8Z77-V DELUXE which allows a pretty decent gap between the cards.

I have considered the 690 but my problem with it is that it is only effectively a 2GB card and I really want 4GB.

I see the asus has the typical dual fan cooler.

From SLI experience I'd now only buy cards with a blower.

Removing 400-500W of heat from the case with case fans is not ideal, much better to let the cards spit it out of the back.
