Hi all,

Just bought an MSIGTX970 as an upgrade for my somewhat outdated GTX550ti, and was slightly concerned about power needed to run it, but power calculator came out all fine and said that with my current setup it would run it.

Get to today, install new card, PC wont get past the motherboard loading screen. Two single beeps, One which is normal but the second one I am fairly sure is PSU related.

The motherboard is a Gigabyte H61M-S2PV. The PSU is an OCUK550W.

The setup is also running -
1 X TP Link PCIe Wireless Card
2 X Samsung 500 GBHDD @ 7200RPM
1 X TSCorp Optical Drive
8GB Ram.

Can anyone confirm that I am just being dumb and need more power, or that I don't have a faulty GTX970?

Thanks

Trundle

what size psu are you using? and are you on the latest motherboard bios? if not I would flash to latest bios first

I just seen someone elses topic about motherboard Bios - This I wouldnt have a clue how to do so the answer is no its probably not on the latest motherboard bios.

I have a 550W PSU

go to gigabyte website and type in the model of your mb

then download the latest bios, extract it to a usb memory stick, then boot into bios and press f8 or end key and point qflash to the bios file on the memory stick and update it,thats it

the gpu should work then, psu should be powerfull enough imo

all you can do is try and see,it should be newer than the one shipped with the board,if you've never updated it

1.Support Intel 3rd generation 22nm E1 stepping CPU (Ivy bridge)
2.Improve NVIDIA graphic card compatibility
that's with f3 and f4 will be newer so try f4

Havent got around to flashing out BIOS yet but have bought another PSU for delivery tomorrow, will flash out BIOS then if that fails then try the PSU swap !
