LOL - okay so I just performed a search on GeForce GTX 980 at geizhals.at, an EU based price-watch engine. It started listing a GeForce GTX 980 entry. Few details are listed however there are some very interesting specs listed. it confirmes that the card has 4GB graphics memory on a 256-bit bus. But here's more interesting info, the entry also lists the number of Shader processors at 2560 with 160 TMUs (texture memory units) and 64 ROPs.

The card would be dual-slot in configuration and has two 6-pin power connectors. Other then that noting is listed. There is a mistake in the listing though as it states GM104 "Maxwell" which would be GM204.

Chip: GM104 "Maxwell"
Memory: 4 GB GDDR5, 256bit
Shader units / TMU / ROP: 2560/160/64
Fab: 28nm
Shader model 5.0
Interface: PCIe 3.0 x16
Slot: dual-slot
Power: 2x 6-pins PCIe

Anyway, nothing is certain with this information.

More news though as two Gigabyte cards, the 970 and 980 started listing at a website called Synnex.

Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming (GV_N970GI_GAMING_4GD)
NVIDIA GTX970 128*32 DDR5 256 BIT

Gigabyte GTX 980 (GV_N980D5_4GD_B)
NVIDIA GTX980 256BIT/4096MB/PCI-E 3.0/128*32 DDR5 256 BIT

More power efficiency, reduced heat output.

Both Intel and NVidia have been going in that direction for a while, whereas AMD are still going the wrong direction at the high end and are now throwing watercoolers on everything.

I just don't get it. The mobile gtx 880 has 8gb VRAM. Why can't the 980 have 8gb VRAM?

Everything is pushing the limits of the VRAM now do it would be something a lot of people would probably jump on of they added 8gb.
