Has anyone ever tried finding any of these?

I live in a modern flat and all the lighting is provided by these pesky bulbs, which are a massive power hog and result in some quite large leccy bills. In our living room/kitchen area there are 12 alone! At 50W each that's quite a bit...

35W replacements seem acceptably bright but the wattage is still quite high, ive even tried an assortment of LED bulbs from bay - these are either unreliable or barely give any light.

So... Anyone out there tried other options with success? I would prefer not to sit in the dark to save energy :p

I use to have a fair few light fitting that used GU10 bulbs..(normally 3 or 4 bulbs needed per light fitting)

One the best things i ever did was change them light fittings for something else that took different bulbs as the GU10 bulbs use to also blow all the time..

Aye they do blow all the time as well... But changing them isn't an option they are built into the ceiling :o

The VERY expensive Philips LED versions are the only ones I've found that are close. The beam pattern is the same, light is about the same but only 3W each. The catch? £15 each, and it's unlikley at that price you'll find it economically viable unless you're there for some time :(

My flat's the same, 15 of them in total. A reasonable compromise I've gone for is two energy-saving (11W Megaman) and one LED (3W 'warm white' ones) bulb in each triple light fitting. The energy-saving bulbs give better light but take a few seconds to warm up, hence the LEDs for instant light. They are pretty pricey unfortunately, probably £10-12 per bulb, but should pay for themselves in power consumption and longevity eventually :).

Why new builds insist on using these things. The practice should have been banned before the incandescent lightbulb tbh. :/

Parents old (new) place was full of them (or variations on the theme). Wasn't a single ordinary light bulb in the whole place. Left that behind now thank goodness.

Sorry for the rant and hope you find a solution.

mums got 6-8 G10s in the kitchen and 8 G9s in the living room, damn power hoggs and blow all the time!

Yeah, they did in my old flat too, not exactly cheap to replace either. Since moving to my current place a year ago, I've not had any of these energy savers go yet.
