How much do you guys think the lower end Ryzen 6000 laptops with 8gb ram are likely to cost? I'm trying to decide if I just buy a Ryzen 5 or i5 based system now (kids birthdays are this week!) or make the kids wait. If it's going to be too expensive there is no point in waiting.

At a guess id say a Lenovo Ideapad with Ryzen 5 6600u 8gb ram and 256gb drive will be £550 to £600.
Did you mean Ryzen 6? If so this is exactly what I'm worried about. Right in my sweet spot price-wise but a whole new generation.

Given the fact that you can still wait 3-6 weeks for a standard-ish Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 7 5xxx series machine I wouldn’t hold out much hope of seeing a Ryzen 6xxx series laptop at a sensible price anytime soon.

Literally nothing is getting cheaper so probably the same or more than laptops now, spec for spec.

So you'd say just go for a Ryzen 5 or equivalent Intel chip then? I think you make a very fair point.
