Guess the artist from a line quiz

I think it has been a while since anyone has posted a guess the song thread from a line so here are a few I've done if anyone is interested. I'm looking for the song and the artist although in a couple of cases there may be more than one artist who has covered the track.

1) He was in a bind 'cos he was way behind and he was willing to make a deal team guessed by divine_madness and Belmit

I'm just going by the first person I see to post in the thread here, I'm thinking I might have made this one a bit too easy though. Gilly is doing a damn fine job of the quick edits here.

Ok only 1) and 12) up for grabs which slightly surprises me as I would have rated them as pretty easy as well

Sorry, nope, it isn't a dance track and as a brief clue the first cover of this prompted the original artist to change the way he did the song

Is it a semi-cowboy-kinda tune?

Its got fiddles in it if that makes it a cowboy kinda tune? Weird Al Yankovitch did a 'comedy' version of the song making it be about pot if that helps.

//edit Belmit is correct on the song title but I was thinking of a different artist, I'll check and see if they covered it
