Guidance on a new/upgrade

Ok its been 5 years since I built my PC so really out of the loop.

Current setup is

i7 290
6Gb ram
Gigabyte board
MSI HD 7950 Twin Frozr III Boost Edition 3072MB
Corsair Builder Series CX 600w
Antec p180 tower
256 SSD drive

I want to use the tower and PSU

Thinking of going upto £1000 but am really out of touch with Graphics cards these days, does the current setup look ok and any recommendations on GPU

The 240mm water cooler wont fit in your case . Reuse your ssd and hard drives.
