Guidance required

I have had my spare room fitted out to try and capture as much space as possible.

With this in mind I have no option but to purchase some sort of shuttle pc. However I have no idea whatsover what I should be looking at. I currently have a P4 Chip with 1GB of Geil Ram and a 250gb Sata hard drive. If possible I would like to keep these to keep costs down.

I do not play games of any sort and do nothing really that heavy.

Can someone suggest a model that would suit my needs. I do not mind paying as little extra for a quieter one as this will be quite important in this small room.

As I mentioned above, I have no idea what I am looking at so any help would be appreciated.

Which socket would be better. I would consider using a new CPU if it meant the PC was going to be more upto date.

In fact it may be better to go for a new system. Anyone suggest a good setup to replace my desktop bearing in mind I dont use it as a games machine ?
