Not sure if right forum for this but it's hunting for a extra performance so I thought I'd start here. My card gets under 18k in timespy and it's a Suprim x. I was hoping for a little more given that most 3080s can achieve this score.

Has anyone got any advice re undervolting on how to go about it or good video guides that go through the best way to get performance out of the card or tweaks I can do/try.

I do plan to watercool it but haven't got the spare ££ for the waterblock at the second

My best run to date has been 18450 with an overclock on the core and the memory applied with the evga software (I'm yet to try afterburner) you can see from my sig that my cpu is a core i7 6950x I becnhed it at 4.4ghz so I'm fairly happy with my result.
My comment is intended to give you an idea to compare your system against, if you have an older lower core speed CPU like mine then you might not be far away from the score that's about right for your CPU

That score does sound low.

What does Timespy show your average clock speed is on your gpu? Based on your score I'm gonna guess it must be low 1800's to mid 1800's on the clock frequency.

Do you use MSI Afterburner for any tweaks? If so I can explain what I do and you could maybe use similar settings to see what scores you get, in theory 2 identical cards running similar speeds should get similar scores.

I get over 20000 for the GPU score and I'm also running the SuprimX.

These are my average clocks for the above run:

If I undervolt my card I'm still getting higher scores, so not sure what's going on.

Here is the score when I undervolt:

And here is the clock speed:

That's a good result,

I've found the 3090's can't really overclock much on the core.

In my case I can get about 120mhz on the core clock, and 400ish on the memory.

Anything above that and I start crashing, get nvidia display errors in event viewer etc.

I've found the key to these cards is undervolting them just enough that they boost more.

I've been using clocktuner for Ryzen but only just found out it's only boosting to 4.11 GHz for some reason, I think there is definitely an error somewhere. I'm going to disable it, use PBO instead and see if my result changes

I've found my cpu has minimal effect on my gpu score in Timespy.

I've been testing non-stop since building my rig and trying to find a balance to find the most performance at acceptable temps.

I only have the demo version so I can't tweak any settings, so not sure if it's because I'm using a 4k display and therefore cpu doesn't have as much of an effect at that resolution. Not sure how it's all translated to Timespy results.

i.e if you lowered resolution would cpu have more of an effect in timespy?

Thanks for your reply.

My clocks seem ok, but I think the CPU may be limiting me, also I know I'm running in PCIe 3.0 x8 instead of x16 because both my m.2 slots are filled.

Here is my highest timespy so far

Graphics score of 21k is bang on. She's a beautiful, healthy specimen :)

It does seem like CPU might beholding it back a little. Perhaps revert CPU to totally stock and see what happens

Yes your eboth right, I was looking at the overall score, not the separate scores, so I ma happy with the 3090 performance then, it's something limiting with my cpu for now that I have to investigate. It's watercooled so it doesn't have any problems with temps

Hi there, both of my m.2 slots are filled, does that mean I'm running PCIe 3.0 × 8 instead of x 16 too? My mobo is asus prime z270k which supports PCIe 3.0 x 16.

EDIT : just ran timespy benchmark, here's what i got -

Your cpu score is what's lowering your overall score like me, I'm not sure what a 7700k would normally get, but the benchmark charts in the timespy thread should give you a rough idea of what other people with the same cpu are getting so you can compare.

It was cpu-z that told me what mode my PCIe was running in and it's certainly possible for yours to be as well, but your gpu score, although lower than mine is not bad, was your card standard or overclocked for the benchmark run?

Yeah my cpu is 4 years old now, i will take a look at the timespy thread to compare and check out gpu-z to see PCIe mode. My zotac gpu isn't overclocked, in fact it can't be clocked unless another bios is flashed to it, its power limit is locked. Its 1 of the crappier 3090s tbh lol. I'm on the lookout for a suprim, they're a beast amongst 3090s.

Sorry to hear that I didn't know that about the zotacs (I almost got one myself) Mine will be up for sale if I can get hold of a strix 3080

I didn't know that about the zotacs either, it was the only 3080 or 3090 I could get at rrp and in stock so I bought it, tried to oc it, but not possible. If you come to sell your 3090 drop me a pm with details please.
