Here is the simple rule of hazard perception to pass it easily.

Pass mark is anything higher than 45. I got 68 out of 75 max with this method.

You see a hazard ahead press left click when your 2 meters from the same hazard press again.
rinse and repeat.

Worked for me and will work for you. Dont be frightened of the hazard part of your theory test. its a doddle.

Has anyone ever failed hazard perception? o_O

Yeah my uni house mate did, she then made out if was difficult.

I went into mine and just clicked on anything and everything that moved or I perceived as a potential hazard and passed. Can't remember what my score was as it was 8 years ago.

Have any of you ever seen behind the software? The point scoring "windows" are very inconsistent, sometimes very harsh and sometimes far, far too lenient.

After seeing what the test actually does underneath, I'd click twice in quick succession (twice in one second), followed by another 1-2 seconds afterwards. Same for any "developments" with the situation/hazard.

Yes.

Some of the hazards develop over a long period of time so if you click too early when you'd start easing off or whatever you can miss the scoring window.

I did this the first time I did it.

Hence working out the ~2s thing.

I think it's a 6s scoring window?

The test isn't meant to test your ability to click your mouse at the right time, its meant to test if you actually identify the correct things as hazards at all.

A question like this was the only thing I got less than 4 or 5 for in my hazard perception.

Static shot looking down a long residential road in suburbia, in the foreground a car on a driveway starts to reverse slowly towards the road, just as another car in the far distance, starts to drive towards the camera. Somewhere in the 30 seconds it took for the car to drive the length of the road and narrowly miss the reversing car I missed the fabled window

I can't help but think that harzard perception would be a lot better and more accurate if each cadidate had to point out (and maybe explain) each hazard to a tester sitting next to them. But of course, god forbid any more work for the testers to do other than point people to a cubicle and print out a score card.

It is, but is quite flawed (imo). I failed it twice :p

But then passed the practical with 3 minors, including doing a non-test emergency stop...

I thought it was very easy, it literally came in afew weeks before I took my theory so it was a surprise on the day, just clicked whenever I saw basically anything move that could be a hazard, car approaching junction, mum with pram blah blah, was extremely simple and with the practise test that are about nowadays I find it hard to believe you can fail.

Apparently you can pass your practical test by:

- Turning onto the Motorway
- Drive past said Lorry at ~105mph
- Cut in sharply
- Rage
- Pass test

and as a bonus if you film it with your phone, they consider that a pass plus
