Guide to install Win7 over the RC

I found this handy guide I hope it helps some of you. Saved me having to completely re-install Win7 from the release candidate.

Well that was painless, Win7 RC7229 upgraded flawlessly to Home Premium. All settings and files intact.

The way I look at it is it's just a service pack install. If it goes wonky, I'll re-install fresh, until than I'm happy.

Thanks for sharing, I am tempted by this as it will save a lot of time, but over the last few months I've been adding crappy one time use programs a lot thinking that I'll do a clean install and get rid of all the crap. Plus really need to get rid of my Vista partition that is just sitting there, so may just have one big clear out.

Tbh, I always do a clean install, but MS said there was absolutely no way to upgrade to the final version from any of the pre-release builds, haha, fail!

Here's my guide:

Backup data.

Format hard drive.

Insert windows disc and install windows.

You're all set.

No offence intended, though I agree with bledd. on this one.

Wit Windows 7 do you get prompted for the version to install again as I the parcel from ocuk as been left with some inbread family that don't answer their door :mad:

This makes no sense to my mind, you might need to rephrase the question in English before somebody with more know-how can answer.

+1 for total functionality - installed fine over RC build 7100, just remember to check the attention note at the bottom of the page.
