Guild Wars 2 now f2p

just announced it's gone f2p with some heavy restrictions.

This is due to the impending launch of the heart of thorns expansion in October.

Also they have announced 10 player raids for people buying the expansion.
I'm sure there will be more to follow.

I took a look at my play time. I just hit 1000 hours since release day. That's quite a bit for me.
I really could do with the extra character slot when you buy HoT. From what I gather I can pre-purchase the bog standard version and get a few character slot. Although it'll likely be cheaper to wait till the price goes down and buy a slot with gems.

and the fact that their player base is shocking.
Still cant get over how much they ****ed this up - given how awesome and well loved GW1 was.

I don't know tbh, checked back on recently and as busy as ever. I've got over 2500 hours played, really enjoyed it just bored of it now and won't touch the expansion.
