Cant decide where I'm better spending my time, no other MMO's please, solely between these two.
Played WoW years ago, wasnt a very high lvl when I quit it either (mid 40's)
I know WoW may be a bit old these days, GW2 being a newer experience.
And don't include the factor of paying for WoW vs Gw2.

Purely on the game, which am I better going for?

Well, the first question would be, what reason did you quit WoW originally?

GW2 IMO. free 2 play, and it's receiving a massive patch which is going to inject more life into the game, it's due some time next month.

Well as you say, time has moved on, I'd suggest giving GW2 a go for a few days, see if it holds that same love that you had for WoW. Maybe even try one of the WoW trials or something to see if you still love WoW given the changes over the years. Should give you an idea of which one ticks your boxes the most nowadays

GW2's finally getting some decent quality of life changes next month.

I've got more than my money's worth since release - only ever spent in the gemstore twice - roughly the amount you'd spend on dlc for other games. Otherwise I've not had to spend anything over the initial cost, and enjoyed the whole game for the most part.

I've never played wow - only seen videos or watched a friend playing. But I do think GW2 is visually superior, both in quality and art direction.

Combat is engaging and fun - particularly pvp, so many ways to express yourself through classes without being tied down to any role. They seem to be adding better mechanics to pve combat so that it is more involved, although I've never been a fan of pve in this game in the past - whole mmo "aggro" mechanic is stupid.

If you have played WOW before then I would suggest you get GW2. Great game and they are always adding new things. The patch coming in April seems like it will really shake the game up, looking forward to it, the only trouble is I am also going to playing Elder scrolls online. I need more time!! ;)

to my mind wow is all about chasing gear and possibly raids.
GW2 is more the journey and exploration (its so easy to get exotic armor no one is bragging when they do get it)

GW2 suits me more as I can do an hour then log and don't feel Im being left behind.

GL with your pick :)

I've played both (though not wow for ages). If you like playing one of a tank/damage/healer then go with wow. GW2 is much more damage dealing and melee based. But, hopefully the patch on 15th April should change that a bit. The exploration and the visuals in GW2 are excellent - some of the images still make me just stop and look. So my choice would be GW2 - unless you're really keen on the holy trinity...

I know you said no other mmos but if you are wanting a different setting but the same amount of content such as raid, dungeons, arena 2v2 3v3 and 5v5, battlegrounds check out wildstar. Its due out on 3rd June and if you pre order you access to the weekend beta's.

It also has the tank, heal dps with the some mechanics of gw2 you also have warplots and your own plot to build a house.

I'd say Guild Wars 2 for the combat, it's much better. No real point playing an MMO if the combat is terrible like in WoW unless you RP. GW2 is also heavily PVP based which requires skill where WoW is all about the raids which doesn't.

Really? I never understood why people brag about the loot they find, it's all random number generator, if a epic piece of gear drops for you, then you're lucky, nothing else. It's like bragging that you used a RNG between 1-1000 and it landed on the number you wanted, which makes no sense?
