Is this game good. I've heard good opinions on it but would like a few more. i can't seem to find a demo on it at all, wouldn't mind a shot of it as im not fluent with these type of games as I am with FPS.

guildwars is a aswome game :) the amount of stuff to do is great guild v guild player v player player v environment and teaming up with guys mostly although for the player v environment bit you might find your self using henchmen ai guys they seem to have more brains than players sometimes tbh :)

theres tons of spells and counter spells or skills to keep you on your toes if playing against other players :)

the original is well worth picking up as is night fall while factions was a bit crappy but i loved the original so i bought it :)

might i recomend the godless guild who started here class freindly guys there who are willing to help and just add jko monkey to ingame freinds list if you take the plunge :)

prophecies the first one is loads of fun and can be had very cheaply since theres no subscription charges at all on any of the gw games.

Cheers. Just noticed all these expansions to it lol. Is there like an official pack that has everything?

Don't buy this game. it doesn't really last unless you're heavily into PVP, literally that's all the option you have after a while. If you wanna go with a good proper MMORPG, i'd go with Anarchy online or WoW or something. Anarchy online is great, especially with expansions, never ending amount of stuff to do, that doesn't just include pvp.

Guild wars was the first MMO i tried as it was free and i didnt like the idea of subscriptions, i thought it was good and played it for a while, then a friend gave me a 14 day trial for WoW, and i have never looked back, everything in the game is so much better than any other MMO i have played and the fact that it is subscription based stops most of the idiot from infesting the servers,

I guess what i am trying to say is, it's a good stepping stone into MMO's but if you have played others it doesnt compare

As others have said, Guild Wars is a good game, but subscription based ones are usualy better.

I played FFXI for a year or so and loved it, the "guild" (linkshell, in FFXI terms) i had were the best group of people id ever met on a game.

I kinda regret quitting tbh, but as with any game, i got bored.

I still play GW (have done for a year) and havnt completed any of the main quests... gets hard finding parties towards the end

You know nothing! Why not actually take the time to think about your post before hitting the submit button? That way your posts wont come across as ignorant drivel!

you haven't played many mmo's then. WoW is an MMO for commercial gamers, taking a lot of good parts of other mmo's and putting them in. In the end WoW consists of a rep grind, or rinse repeat bosses. Waste of time.

Guild Wars I have played, thought it was rubbish, however it is easy to pick up and get into for a blast. You'll enjoy the £10 you spend on it for a while and you won't feel you need to dedicate all your spare time to it. I just didn't like the combat system (one thing about WoW I did like).

In the end why not try a different genre?

there is loads of hours of gamming in the quests side action of the game, high level areas once you have reached LVL 20 ie underworld / fissures of woe / sorrows furnace and that ust prohecies.

Guild Wars is bloody BRILLIANT... I doubt there's many other games that can offer sooo much for such a great price -

I'm completely against paying a monthly subscription for gaming (especially being a poor student) so WoW is not happening... I thought Guild Wars would be rubbish because it had no monthly fees but quite the opposite - It's a bloody great game and I'd say a must have for any gamer....

Don't bother with a demo, it's only around the 15 quid mark these days for Prophecies so go for it!!

I got a 14 day/10 hour trial on the front of a magazine for Fractions the other day and must admit that im now tempted to go and buy them. Have been loving it although i must say its the 1st MMO game ive played

HAHAHAHA that was a joke right! Right?

WoW has more idiots than I can shake a stick at.

GW is good for those that have a social life.

WoW = timesink.

GW is fantastic, I lost 2years of my life to it and the expansions... I only stopped playing because i'd burnt out on it.

I'm playing EVE atm, but when Eye of the North comes out you can bet your bottom dollar i'll be back on GW in a flash!

Agree.

Finding a decent PUG in WoW is pretty much impossible, finding one in GW is a bit easier although you do get morons who like to charge on ahead and get themselves killed.

However i'd definitely say that the GW community is better, definitely more mature in general.

GW is more of a pick up and play game, i found it good because of the soloing capabilities and that i don't have the time to dedicate hours to gaming on a regular basis.

Great storyline, and good fun while it lasts, which can be anything between months and years.

Plus no subs! the game is only £10 so its hardly a waste of money to give it a try.

did you ever REALLY play GW? or did you just install it, play a bit of pre-sear and then give up because no-one answered your shouts of A/S/L?

saying that WOW is in any way better is just wrong. the people playing GWs are 100% more mature (I've yet to be abused there ONCE, where as in WOW, like every time I go back to it I stop because of the number of whining kids with potty mouths).

Guildwars is a fantastic game, it was let down a little with the release of Factions, but picked up when Nightfall was released.

I played pretty much all the time since its release, but have now put it down, and didn't install it on my new machine. If I ever wanted to play again it is sitting on my old rig. Took 8 characters through all campaigns and obtained all Protector Titles and all Skills available.

Loved trawling through DoA, UW and FoW with guild mates, or alone, but now switched over to LOTRO and probably wont turn back. I might take a look again when EOTN is released, but not certain.

There arent any complaints with the game, I just feel I have done all that it can offer, and it becomes a chore after a while to just keep logging in and doing nothing, or playing the same instances all over again.

ANet did very well releasing the game, and resisting the urge to charge a monthly subscription.

I agree.

I played WoW for 3months before realising it was taking too much time and money. So I agree with others when they say it is a timesink.

I bought Guild Wars around the same time as it had no subscription and it is an amazing game with better graphics.

I've recently started playing guildwars again after taking a break from any MMORPG's and it is amazing. I've actually just got Nightfall today.

One thing which I like aswell is that the 'expansions' don't require you to buy the original game. So for £10 you can have a brilliant game with no monthly fee's.

I guess it depends on what you want from a MMORPG. If you want to play it 24/7 grinding/raiding & walking for 30mins to get to places then get WoW.

I think that if you're paying a monthly fee, you feel like you should get your money's worth and so play more. Then you get hooked and start thinking "I'll just do this quest" or "I just want that item" then when you've done it or got it you see someone else with something better and decide you want that and the process starts again.
Which is why I love Guildwars.
