Ok erm so the mrs got 2 male baby guinea pigs the other week which have no *ahem* matured and one is humping the holy hell out of the other one.

Shes against the idea of having them snipped because it could damage them or something *though isnt that sort of the point*

So does anyone who has guinea pigs know if they will grow out of or if there is anyway to prevent this apparent and unwanted display of gay rape.

They can get nasty in that state, I had a chunk of flesh bitten out of my hand when I (stupidly) put my hand in between the two I had as a kid to try and prevent them from killing each other.

Male guinea pigs are extremely agressive towards other males. If you pair two males in a cage then it is more than likely they will fight eachother and it can be quite nasty. With them only being babys this sexual dominance you are seeing could be the first stages of them fighting.

Anyone looking to have two guinea pigs in one cage should always buy two females.

theyre not fighting really i just feel sorry for the one thats getting pegged lol

If they do start tearing lumps out of each other il seperate them no problems.

All else fails il make armour for them and give them mini weapons and let them sort it out.......

what if they kill each other in the night?

How old are the pigs? I'd check with a vet and get them neutered but i've had a few guinea pigs as pets and two males very rarely get on in my experience.

It can be sorted by just letting them figure out who is the dominant one and the submissive one. This happened with two girls we got who fought about randomly for a few days but now are happily co-habitting.

The guinea pig isnt gay and trying to rape his cage mate I hate to break it to you. The one doing the humping is trying to dominate the other one and show him who's boss, humping them is the way guinea pigs do this. The other one will either eventually give in, submit and they have sorted out the pack order, or there will be one almighty scrap and then you will have to separate them unfortunately.

Its a stage of their development, and if they have been together since they were very tiny, i.e. they are brothers, then things will usually settle down, but otherwise you might have to get yourself another cage if they cant agree on who's boss.

I havent ever heard of a guinea pig being neutered though, not sure it can be done.
:)

Weeeek weeeeek weeeeek!

Translation: Fancy a bum?

Putting both these together:

"Weeek week weeeek!"

Translation: "Oh yeah, whos the daddy and whos the *****!?"

Keep a close eye on them obviously, sometimes it can be too late once they have already started seeing "what's what"

I'd agree with this.

My gf and i have one and my gf's parents have two. The first time we putting them together ours mounted the others. We were shocked at first but after reading up on it we discovered it was a pack order type ritual that they go through to claim dominance just like knip says.

As others have said though - keep an eye on them and make sure it doesn't get more aggressive. If neither submits then you may have to seperate them.

Also, technically you are advised not to group males due to aggressive traits but the gf's parents piggies play together quite happily and they're both boys. :)
