I'm just about to buy my first guitar to learn on(Tanglewood TW70) is their any other bits I should buy? e.g. bag, plecs etc?
Also is there any websites that are recommended for info for beginners?

Strap, extra strings, plectrum and most importantly TUNER. Try and get them to throw in as much of the above for free as you can. Although I doubt you'll manage a free tuner! ;)

Capo. Stick it on when you get a bit fed up and even the simplest chords take on a new sound. Umm, which they do. :D But you know what I mean.

Stringwinder for when you change strings, saves you having to wind the strings on by hand, you will probably need a pair of wire cutters or something to cut the ends of the strings.

metronome

over and above a tuner i'd say, who cares if you can play in tune to yourself in your room, as long as you can play in time!

not saying dont buy a tuner though, lol, but when i'm practising i'd rather have the guitar in tune with itself and be in time than be at the exact right pitch and be way out of time.

Exactly. :p

I remember sticking a capo on the 5th fret for the first time and playing basic chords. Makes a practice session last longer.

how did it make the session last longer?

you mean for example you played an open G without a capo, then put the capo on 2nd fret and played another open G (which would be in the shape of an F) to practise using open chords with capos?

or you mean you just liked the different sound?
