Hi, I couldn't really decide where the best place to post this on the forums would be. I need help with my guitar amp, its a Peavey Valveking and well....it got a little wet the other day. Long story short - I was carrying it from one house to the other down the road and it was raining. When I got it to where it was going it was a bit wet but nothing severe. I switched it on and everything seemed fine, but then the standby light went out after about 5 minutes and now it wont switch on again :( I have checked the fuse and it looks fine so I dont think it is that, does anyone know what else I can try without having to take it to a repair place and pay through the nose??

Thanks very much.

Did you try replacing the fuse, not just looking at it?

Also if it was still wet and you turned it on, it could have fried the components inside.

Which fuse did you check? The one in the end of the plug? There is likely to be another larger fuse inside the unit, between the transformer and the amp circuitry. This may have gone if a short was formed by some water or something.

I am trying to find the right fuse to replace it right now - but i really hope i havent fried the components :S

The one that I checked was the fuse inside the amp and that was the one which looked fine (no breaks or black gas inside). Also I switched power plugs to another one and it still didnt work so its not the fuse on the other side either.

It's possible you've knocked one or more of the valves out - someone i know had a lovely sounding fender amp that had to have it's valves re-seated every time he moved it.
