I managed to win this earlier from an auction site for £14.50 (bargain seen as it's £35 in most game selling shops second hand!)
Just wondering if it's any good?

Oooooooooo very positive!
We're (me and the other half) are just playing our way through the guitar bit on rock band now, loving the new songs, so this should be something to look forward to...I was hearing the songs from GHIII in my sleep to be honest :p

It arrived yesterday, I've played through about three of the setlists and I'm not really that impressed after all the hype?!
Maybe I've been spoilt playing Rock Band beforehand.
And the colours on the button are horrible, hurts my eyes staring at them and the background for too long.
Think I'm gonna trade away this one and get GH:WT or RB / RB2.
Oh well, whatever, nevermind! :(

I have GH3 LOR, GH3 WT, GH2, RB2 + RB1 songs downloaded for 400 points.

RB2 + 1 songs downloaded for 400 points is the Best by Miles.
Like you say the GH series is harder on the eyes & not as nice to play through. The RB series is easy on the eye & a pleasure to play through & the amount of download content should keep you playing for eons. Also the Rock Band series gives you plenty of routes to play through the songs rather than forcing you into playing crap.

RB2 + RB1songs + Wireless Black Les Paul = Win.

more often than not you also end up playing the same songs over and over, one thing that puts me off it. playing with a mate i think i played 1 song 3 times at back to back gigs

also explorer guitar *** :)

Not really, it was a LOT harder to get licensing then, seeing as it was still a very new type of game, and bands and labels just didn't want to give their songs to something that may die out soon anyway. We are used to masters now as artists and labels have seen that it's going to be around for a long time, and so are more willing to license tracks, and even release tracks through the game.

There are still bands that don't want to give their songs up, such as Led Zeppelin, because they don't want people playing with their masters.

Besides, the GH2 covers are awesome.
