Guitar strings

I've had a look in the sticky but I can't really find the info I'm looking for. Basically I started playing the electric guitar years ago but gave it up around my GCSE's.

So I'm thinking about starting to learn it again, but obviously the strings are about 7 years old!

So what strings would you recommend, and where is the best place to get them from?

While I have this thread going I may as well ask some other qustions that I have been thinking about!

1) Is there a book/s that anyone can recommend that will enable me to re-learn the very basics?

2) My guitar is a bit grubby, what's the best thing to clean it with?

2) Can someone recommend a good stand?

3) I have a yamaha pacfica that I bought about 7 years ago (having had a quick look around here it seems to be a beginner guitar

), but how do I find what model it is? There is a little sticker on the back with 312 on it, is that it?
