Change the card to Audio Creation mode and you get a mixer where you can put on some basic effects. I think the Elite Pro model is more suited to this though, it comes with Cubase and some other software for doing proper recording.

ok ihad a look at it but it makes no sence what so ever to me can i get some help on how to set it up to take my guitar in thru aux 2?

sry for noob questions :P

thanx

I'm no expert either, but I'll see if I can guide you through it :)

Firstly make sure Aux 2 isn't muted - check the little buttons beside the volume sliders. They're the ones at the top. Then on the right look at the recorder tab and select "Aux 2". Finally make sure nothing else is muted. It should look something like this I think, assuming you have a 2.1 speaker set:

Hope this helps :D

thx for this but i have exactly what u have and nothing is happening

no sound what so ever

i do notice on the recorder box u have aux2/phono, mine is jus aux2. this make a difference?

am i mising something realy obvious? such as telling it i am using a guitar or something?

i am pluging guitar straight into the x-fi front pannel.

sorry ! thx.

I don't think you have to specify that the input it a guitar, it should pickup whatever you have plugged in. What does your cable look like anyway? I'm just using a regular guitar lead plugged into the Line-In 3 socket on my breakout box. Maybe you could try plugging one into the Line-In 2 socket on the front panel and changing your settings accordingly?

ok this what i got it as

the front panel of x-fi platinum with standard guitar lead in aux 2

Heh heh, now I see the problem :D The socket you're connected into isn't Aux 2 - it's line in 2. Aux 2 is the red and white one above it. Turn up the volume dial beside it and change the settings in the mixer to line-in 2, and you should be fine.

well my stupidity :p

but
still no sound :(
but no matter which input i put it on my winamp always works thru it
( the bars go up an down )

but nothing from guitar

do i need to maybe put a jumper on the sound card? one came with it, didnt read into it tho so have no clue what it does

also were did u get an adapter for ** guitar lead to make it fit the aux 2?

Does the front panel work at all? Have you tried connecting headphones or a microphone to it? That would determine whether it's connected properly. I don't use an adapter for my guitar - I just plug it in to one of the line ins that looks exactly like yours.

it works with the remote,

it has power and is hooked up to my sound card with a ide type cable

pluged sum headphones in an they dont work all the different modes etc bit confusing so i will have a mess

also when i put headphones in the front panel, it changes to headphones istead of speakers jus no sound comes out of the headphones

That's normal, I think there's a setting that mutes speakers when headphones are inserted. It definitely sounds like there's something up with the panel if both inputs and outputs don't work. I'm afraid I'm running out of ideas though, does anyone else have any suggestions as to what's going on?

The panel might be faulty or it mightn't be connected up right. It's hard to tell really. Maybe you could try using an adapter to connect your guitar into the line-in socket on the back of the card itself to see if any line-ins are working? Or maybe connecting in a microphone if you have any lying around?

I have a different panel, it's a big breakout box with loads of sockets and controls on it.

so do i have to set up the front port to use headphones?

i plug them into the back of the card and works fine, but front it the speakers stop but nothing comes thru the headphones.

volume knob is on full and headphones are def not broken,

headphones are the smaller plug an am using the addapter supplied btw

even tried in the creative media thing u do with remote, jus checked thru all settings nothing is muted.

i dont have to be in entertainment mode or what ever?

so far only thing ive managed to get working on the front panel is the infra red reciever. dont have any of the wire to test the other things
